Report: Serie A club want Spurs midfielder on loan with view to £15m sale

The Times have revealed that Fiorentina have submitted a new bid for Giovani Lo Celso after Spurs turned down the Serie A club’s loan offer for the midfielder.

Lo Celso is one of several players who is surplus to requirements at Tottenham, with the North London club now reportedly prioritising selling unwanted players after making six new singings this summer (Evening Standard).

Todofichajes reported earlier this week that the Argentine has his heart set on a return to Villarreal this summer on the back of his impressive loan spell at the club last season.

However, over recent days, Fiorentina have emerged as the leading contender to snap up Lo Celso, according to reports from Italy (Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness).

The Times have now revealed that Viola saw a loan offer for the former Real Betis man turned down by Antonio Conte’s men and have subsequently returned with a proposal to sign the midfielder on loan with a view to a permanent deal of £15m.

The report reveals that Spurs value Lo Celso at £20m and while Villarreal are still interested in re-signing the 26-year-old, the La Liga club are not said to have matched Tottenham’s asking price.

Even though a return to Villarreal might be Lo Celso’s preference, it seems like Fiorentina are willing to put more money on the table for the midfielder at the moment. One would expect Unai Emery’s men to submit an offer for the 26-year-old over the next few days if they do not wish to miss out on him.
