Report: Serie A club want to sign Spurs youngster on loan in January

According to the print edition of Corriere Dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Bologna are interested in signing Alejo Veliz on loan from Tottenham in January.

Veliz was signed by Tottenham as a prospect for the future rather than as someone who could have an instant impact on the first team.

However, the injury issues that Ange Postecoglou has dealt with in his forward line have meant that the Argentine has already made three appearances off the bench for the Lilywhites (Transfermarkt).

It has been suggested by various sources that the 20-year-old has impressed the coaching staff since his arrival in the summer.

This includes 90 min journalist Sean Walsh, who said on the Talking Transfers Podcast recently that the striker is expected to be fast-tracked, which is why Spurs could decide against signing a centre-forward in January.

Bologna interested in taking Alejo Veliz on loan

Corriere Dello Sport have now asserted that Bologna are keen to add firepower to their forward line and have identified Veliz as a target.

The report explains that the Serie A side tried to sign the striker from Rosario Central in the summer but lost out to Tottenham in the race for his signature.

Given the youngster’s struggles for game time at the North London club, it is alleged that Bologna are now contemplating a loan proposal for Veliz in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham face a tricky choice between not leaving themselves too short up front if there are a couple of injuries and doing what is best for Veliz’s development.

I would personally loan out the Argentine in January but I would send him to a Championship club so that he gets regular game time under his belt and gets accustomed to the intensity and physicality of the English game.
