Report: Serie A club want to tie down Spurs target to ward off PL interest

According to a report from CalcioMercato, Napoli want to offer rumoured Tottenham target Kim Min-Jae a new contract amidst growing interest in the centre-back.

Kim has been on Tottenham’s radar since the summer of 2020 (90 Min) and the South Korean was once again linked with a move to Spurs this summer (AreaNapoli) before he sealed a switch to Naples.

The North London club will certainly be ruing their failure to snap up the defender, who has made an excellent start to life in the Serie A. His solid displays at the back have been a key reason why Luciano Spalletti’s men are eight points clear at the top of the table.

CalcioMercato have now revealed that Kim’s displays at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium have alerted several Premier League clubs, who are said to be contemplating an offer for the defender.

This is thought to have caused the alarm bells to ring among the Napoli hierarchy, with the Serie A club alleged to be planning a contract offer to the centre-back, just a few months after his switch to the club.

It is fair to say that Napoli have hit the jackpot with both Kim Min-Jae and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who have both been excellent since their summer moves. Most top clubs in Europe could have easily blown Napoli out of the water for either player, given the modest transfer fees that they were signed for.
