Report: Serie A club will find it hard to sign Spurs star – Postecoglou wants to keep him

TuttoMercatoWeb have said that Napoli would find it extremely difficult to get Dejan Kulusevski out of Tottenham Hotspur despite their keen interest in the winger.

Kulusevski has not set the world alight at Tottenham over the last few months and the winger was left out of the starting eleven against West Ham United on Tuesday.

Over recent days, it has been suggested by Italian outlets that Napoli could make an offer this summer to try and persuade Spurs to part ways with the Swede.

This information was carried couple of days ago by Radio Kiss Kiss (via Sport Witness) who reported that the Serie A club’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis is keen on appointing Antonio Conte as manager.

It was explained that in order to attract the former Spurs boss to the club, De Laurentiis is prepared to spend big on Kulusevski, with the Italian said to be a big admirer of the 23-year-old.

However, TMW have now claimed that Napoli’s move for Kulusevski will be ‘complicated’ as Ange Postecoglou is not keen on parting ways with the winger.

The outlet says that the reigning Serie A champions are expected to earn a huge fee of over €100m (£85.6m) from the sale of Victor Osimhen and would have to spend around €60m (£51.4m) of that on Kulusevski if they wish to sign the Tottenham man.

However, the publication adds that Daniel Levy will make the negotiations difficult, just as he did when Napoli came knocking on the door for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg last summer.

Finally, TMW point out that Kulusevski has not been put on the market yet by Spurs, which is why the Partenopei might have to pay a huge fee to sign the attacker.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Tottenham would not be keen on offloading Kulusevski this summer, I do think that they would seriously consider an offer of around £60m for the Swede, who despite all his excellent qualities, is not the type of winger that Ange Postecoglou prefers in his system.
