Report: Serie A club will not stand in player’s way amidst Spurs rumours

Sport Mediaset have claimed that Juventus will not stand in the way of Leonardo Bonucci if the centre-back decides he wants to join Tottenham.

Reports of Tottenham’s interest in Bonucci first emerged a few days ago when CalcioMercatoTV revealed that Antonio Conte wants to reunite with the experienced defender, who he worked with at Juventus and the Italian national side.

The report asserted that the 35-year-old does not have a cordial relationship with Massimiliano Allegri at the moment, and has decided that he wants a change of scenery.

It was explained that the Italian is expected to leave the Allianz Arena in January even though his departure will lead to anger among the Juve supporters.

However, Sport Mediaset have now claimed that a January departure is unlikely for Bonucci and that he could decide to leave Turin at the end of the current season.

The report adds that Tottenham could begin work to bring the Juve legend to North London and the Serie A giants would let the player go if he expresses a desire to leave.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do expect Spurs to be in the market for a centre-back next summer but one would think that the club would be looking for more of a long-term option than Bonucci, who is now in the twilight of his career. Having said that, like Perisic, the 35-year-old would bring a winning mentality to the Spurs dressing room.
