Report: Serie A club’s sporting director was scouting Spurs star against Chelsea

The Telegraph have revealed that Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli and his assistant Giovanni Manna were at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday to run the rule over Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Hojbjerg came on as a substitute at half-time, replacing the injured James Maddison and the Dane delivered a battling display as Spurs gave a very good account of themselves despite playing a significant portion of the encounter with nine men.

Juventus are still very interested in Hojbjerg

The Telegraph state that Hojbjerg is ‘high on the list of targets’ for Juve, who are keen to add reinforcements to their midfield, with Paul Pogba currently suspended for an alleged doping violation, while Nicolo Fagioli is serving a ban for breaching betting rules.

The report adds that Fulham also showed an interest in the Dane during the summer while Manchester United considered him as an option before making a move for Sofyan Amrabat.

It is not revealed whether either Premier League side are expected to reignite their interest in Hojberg, but the publication does state that the former Saints star is valued at around £25m by Spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that Juve’s sporting director himself came down to watch Hojbjerg suggests that the Italian club’s interest in the Tottenham man is relatively advanced.

However, I do not think Spurs would be open to loaning out the Dane and it remains to be seen if the Old Lady would pay the £20m-£25m that the Lilywhites would demand.
