Report: Serie A giants prepared to sell rumoured Spurs target this summer

Inter Milan are planning to part ways with Diego Godin this summer, amidst rumoured interest from Tottenham according to a report iby Calciomercato.

Godin is one of the names said to be on Spurs’ radar this summer as they look to sign a potential replacement for Jan Vertonghen, who will be out of contract this summer (Mirror).

Mourinho is reportedly a long-time admirer of the experienced defender and tried in vain to sign him when he was in charge at Manchester United.

Calciomercato claim that Antonio Conte is prepared to put the defender up for sale and while Godin has no personal issue with Conte, the Inter boss does not see the former Atletico Madrid star fitting into the 3-5-2 system he plans on employing next season.

Additionally, it is revealed that the Serie A club will be saving around £18 million in wages if they sell the Uruguayan this summer and they are said to be looking at various replacements.

At 34 years of age, the jury is still out on whether Godin has the legs to cope with the intensity of the Premier League. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if Mourinho wanted to bring him in to just for his experience, which can potentially help the development of the likes of Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga.
