Report: Serie A side enter race for midfielder allegedly targeted by Spurs and Wolves

Lazio have entered the race for Porto midfielder and rumoured Tottenham target Vitinha with Maurizio Sarri keen to sign him this summer, according to Il Messaggero via Lazio News 24.

Vitinha, who spent last season on loan at Wolves, is one of Porto’s most exciting prospects and has been a leading performer in the heart of the side this term.

His displays have linked him with a return to England, with the Midlands side and Tottenham among the sides interested in securing a transfer this summer (Mercado Azul).

But the Premier League duo are set to face competition from Lazio, with Il Messaggero reporting that the Serie A outfit have placed Vitinha on their list of transfer targets.

The report states former Chelsea manager Sarri wants to sign the 22-year-old for the new campaign and hopes to complete a deal with the help of intermediary and super-agent Jorge Mendes.

Vitinha has been near-ever-present for Porto this season and has appeared in 32 games (Transfermarkt), which has helped propel the club to a considerable lead at the top of the Liga Portugal.

Spurs Web Opinion

Vitinha didn’t make too many appearances for Wolves last season but he went through a spell where he was very good for them. He seems to have kicked on this season at Porto as he has had some longevity in midfield which has been good for his development.
