Report: Serie A side make contact with Fabio Paratici over out-of-favour midfielder

Sampdoria are interested in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks, according to a report from Italy.

Italian newspaper Il Secolo XIX (via Tutto Mercato Web) have claimed that the Serie A outfit have already made contact with Tottenham’s managing director of football, Fabio Paratici to discuss a possible deal for the England international.

Sampdoria club official Daniele Faggiano who is a friend of Antonio Conte is also said to have reached out to the Spurs head coach.

Winks is reported to be holding out for a move to another Premier League side at present with his future in north London appearing to be over.

The academy graduate was left out of Conte’s plans in pre-season along with Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso know in no uncertain terms that they are surplus to requirements (Daily Mail).

Winks would probably favour a move to Spain if he were to move abroad, given the fact he has Spanish grandparents and has previously admitted in an interview with ESPN that he has a connection with the country.

Everton and Leeds United were both said to have shown interest in the player earlier in the window but did not follow up with anything formal, at this rate with the season set to begin, Winks needs to find a new club and fast, while potentially having to be open to playing in other countries on the continent.
