Report: Serie A side may look at Tottenham player after failed transfer pursuit

La Nazione have claimed that Fiorentina may be about to their attention back to Bryan Gil as they look set to fail in their attempted pursuit of Club Brugge star Cyril Ngonge.

On Monday, multiple Italian sources, including Gianluca Di Marzio and Calciomercato, suggested that Fiorentina had identified Ngonge as an alternative to Gil.

In fact, Di Marzio even claimed that the Viola had pushed ahead with a move for the Belgian and that the difference between the Serie A side’s valuation and Brugge’s was just a few million.

Bryan Gil could be back on the table for Fiorentina

However, La Nazione now say that Ngonge no longer appears to be an option for Fiorentina as Napoli are on the verge of winning the race for the player.

It is explained that the reigning Serie A Champions offered a bigger fee for the attacker and have now ‘landed the blow’.

As a result, it is alleged that Gil could ‘regain importance’ for Fiorentina over the coming days if Tottenham are willing to sanction a loan move for the Spaniard.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do expect Gil to leave on loan before the window slams shut but I only expect Spurs to green-light the deal in the final few days of the month. There is no doubt that a few more clubs, particularly from La Liga, will step up to show interest in the 22-year-old over the next two weeks.
