Report: ‘Several’ of Spurs’ summer transfer targets have now been put off joining

Several transfer targets have been deterred from joining Tottenham Hotspur of late due to the behind-the-scenes chaos at the club, including the departure of Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici being banned from world football.

A frustrating season on the pitch has been matched by plenty of problems off it this year. Despite all this, Spurs are currently in fourth place in the league and have a good chance of securing Champions League football for next season.

After weeks of speculation, Spurs announced that Conte had parted ways with the club after 16 months in charge.

His former assistant Cristian Stellini is now temporarily overseeing the first team until the end of the campaign.

Not long after, Spurs had another announcement to make, confirming managing director of football Paratici had taken a step back from his duties at the club.

This came after the 50-year-old’s ban from Italian football for his involvement in the Juventus capital gains trial, was extended to a global ban.

While Spurs ponder who will take over in the summer and lead them forward, the idea of transfers may seem a moot point right now.

Regardless, the club is reportedly finding it difficult to attract players to the club given the off-the-field situation.

According to Football Insider sources, the ongoing “chaos behind the scenes” has been enough to leave “several of the club’s summer transfer targets” doubting the merits of a move to North London.

It is suggested that the outcome of the race for the top four this season will have a “significant role” in whether Spurs can or cannot attract the players they hope to in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Just like our search for a new manager is revealing how unappealing the Spurs job is, the fact that players are not keen on coming to Tottenham does not surprise me at all.

The club is a mess right now, and I dread to think how it will be if we do miss out on the top four this year.
