Report: Several Premier League clubs want to sign £20m-rated former Spurs man

Kieran Trippier could be set to return to the Premier League this summer as several Premier League clubs are said to be interested in the former Spurs man’s signature.

Tottenham sold Tripper to Atletico Madrid for £20 million last summer (Guardian) after the defender’s performances left a lot to be desired in the 2018/19 campaign.

However, the right-back has done well since his move to La Liga and has seemingly regained his confidence.

The Sun now reports that the Trippier’s performances for Diego Simeone’s side have caught the attention of several Premier League clubs who are keen to offer the defender a route back to England.

The report claims that Atletico are willing to cash in on the England international if they can recoup the £20 million they paid for his services last summer.

Trippier’s former club Burnley are thought to be one of the clubs interested in signing him and the former Spurs man has supposedly already checked out potential new homes in his native north-west.

Spurs Web Opinion

While I am not surprised that several Premier League clubs are interested in Trippier, I am surprised that Atletico are willing to sell him. Perhaps they need to raise cash to fund moves for their targets and view the former Spurs man as a sellable asset. However, Trippier has certainly shown enough this season for a club bigger than Burnley to make an approach for him.
