Report: Several Spurs players had sleep disrupted two times last night

Several Tottenham Hotspur players were woken up last night by fireworks above the team hotel in Marseille ahead of their Champions League match this evening.

Spurs flew out to France yesterday ahead of their must-not-lose final match of Group D, just a week after their heartbreak at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Sporting Lisbon.

Harry Kane thought he had won the game in the 95th minute, which would have sent Spurs through to the knockouts as group winners, only to see VAR chalk the goal off after a five-minute check.

While that may have created some sleepless nights for the Spurs squad last week, it appears they had another last night in Marseille, with ‘prolonged’ firework displays being set off at 1:30 am and again at 4:30 am.

Sky Sports’ Paul Gilmour reported that ‘several players’ were woken up by the commotion, which has ‘disrupted’ Tottenham’s preparations for the match.

Spurs Web Opinion:

This has become a common thing in recent years, especially for European away days. It’s definitely not ideal, but hopefully the Spurs squad had their earplugs in. This is exactly why some teams set up fake hotel bookings to trick fans.
