Report: ‘Sharp refusal’ from Daniel Levy as he ‘doesn’t move an inch’ on player sale

Tottenham Hotspur appear to be willing to part with star defender Toby Alderweireld this summer, but only at the right price.

Alderweireld’s contract was due to run out this summer, but Spurs decided to extend it by an extra year back in early 2019.

Unfortunately, this did trigger a clause in the deal that could see Toby leave the club if the set £25m valuation is met (Guardian).

Sky Sports reported last week that Roma were interested in taking the Belgian this summer, with the two clubs in talks over the past few days.

However, Daniel Levy is known as one of the toughest negotiators in world football for good reason and he has reportedly sent Roma packing as they were only willing to bid £18m (Calcio Mercato)

Il Tempo claim that there was a ‘sharp refusal’ from Levy to dip below the £25m release clause and he has no intention of giving a discount to any club (via Sport Witness).

The report adds that Levy ‘doesn’t move an inch’ on this demand and has made the situation clear to Roma.
