After another awful display from Christian Eriksen in a Spurs shirt yesterday evening against Liverpool, The Athletic have shed some light on the Great Dane’s situation in North London.
They claim that no club came in with an official bid for the playmaker, despite Eriksen making it clear that he wanted to leave Spurs and the fact that he has just one year remaining on his contract (Ekstra Bladet).
The report also states that Eriksen has no desire to make a move to Manchester United, with his only real interests being Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Spurs have apparently made repeat attempts to get Christian to sign a new contract with the club, all of which have been turned down by the midfielder.
Eriksen now has well under a year left on his contract and will be free to talk to non-English clubs in January about a potential pre-contract agreement. The Danish star could leave for a free in the summer, or Spurs may look to sell him on early in the winter window.
Spurs Web Opinion:
Spurs should sell Eriksen in the January window, even if it for just £10m. Get him out of the club and reinvest in someone who wants to fight for the Tottenham shirt.
