Report: ‘Significant sprain’ – Tottenham issue official update on Steven Bergwijn injury

Tottenham Hotspur have now issued an official update on the injury of Steven Bergwijn ahead of their Champions League clash against RB Leipzig this week.

The Lilywhites are already without both Harry Kane and Heung-min Son through injury at the moment, after both required surgery in the past two months.

Kane ruptured the tendon in his left hamstring against Southampton on New Years Day while Sonny fractured his arm in the match against Aston Villa last month.

These two stars represent Tottenham’s top goalscorers this season, which left the likes of Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn, and Dele Alli to fill the gaps in makeshift roles.

However, after he was seen limping towards the end of the draw against Burnley at the weekend, Tottenham have now confirmed that Bergwijn has suffered a ‘significant sprain to his left ankle.’

The forward will now undergo an extended period of rehabilitation, although a potential return date is not mentioned.
