Report: Sixteen-goal Premier League forward is on Tottenham’s radar

Southampton striker Danny Ings is on Tottenham’s radar as they seek to bring in a replacement for the injured Harry Kane, according to a report by the Daily Star.

Spurs confirmed on Thursday that Kane is not expected to return to training until April after injuring his hamstring against Southampton on New Year’s Day.

The Champions League finalists have been linked with Moussa Dembele of Lyon (Goal.com) and AC Milan misfit Krzysztof Piatek (The Sun) and the report by the Daily Star also confirms that the club have made approaches for both players. However, the report also reveals that the lilywhites aren’t close to completing either deal.

The club are still said to be taking a close looks at Ings, who has been on fire for Southampton this season, having managed sixteen goals already in all competitions (transfermarkt).

Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho admitted during Thursday’s press conference that it was difficult to buy a striker willing to play second fiddle to Kane once he is fit and firing again (Football.London).

I don’t believe Ings would want to come to Spurs knowing he is never going to start ahead of Kane especially after the experience he had at Liverpool where he warmed the bench for three years. We will be better off signing a young, up and coming striker who can learn from Kane and would be content not starting every game.
