Report: Solskjaer not keen on signing this Spurs player

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino recently admitted that Spurs needed a ‘painful rebuild’ in the summer, which indicates that there are likely to be a lot of incomings and outgoings at the club (Evening Standard).

Among the players linked with a move away from Spurs is defender Toby Alderweireld. The club took up the option of extending his contract this season, which automatically activated a clause that would allow the 30-year-old to leave the club this summer for the offer of £25 million (Guardian).

The centre half has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer as the Red Devils try to upgrade their defence (Express).

However, Alderweireld himself recently came out and said that in his mind he will still be at the club next season (SPORT 360).

Now, The Sun reports that Man Utd will decide by next week whether on not to make an offer for Alderweireld.

The report also claims that Solskjaer is not too keen on adding the Belgian International to their squad and instead wants to improve Man Utd’s defenders.

Spurs Web Opinion

After Spurs took up the option to extend Toby’s contract which activated the clause, it looked inevitable that the centre half would leave the club in the summer. However, based on recent reports, Tottenham might just hold on to the Belgian beyond this summer.

We at Spurs Web certainly believe that the club should hold on to Alderweireld for at least one more season, and focus on improving other areas this transfer window.
