Report: Some in Spain have been left confused by recent Spurs transfer decision

Some figures in Spain have been left confused as to why Tottenham decided to loan out Bryan Gil to Valencia, according to Football.London.

Gil, 20, made the switch back to La Liga on deadline day of the January transfer window just six months after joining Spurs, having been restricted for starts in North London.

The young winger has already featured on four occasions for Valencia (Transfermarkt) and has allegedly made a good impression on his return to his homeland.

Football.London states that there has been plenty of ‘head-scratching’ in Spain over Tottenham’s decision to let Gil depart in January, with particular surprise stemming from his positive displays so far.

It comes after Spanish outlet Cadena SER reported that Valencia have been so convinced by Gil’s performances that they intend to open talks with Spurs over extending his loan until the end of next season.

Unfortunately, Gil wasn’t handed too many starting berths to show what he can do at Tottenham so a loan until the end of term seemed uneatable. It’s great to see him playing for a start, while actually performing well in his early days at Valencia.
