Report: Some leading figures at Spurs are still keen on a Mauricio Pochettino return

Some leading figures at Tottenham Hotspur are still keen on attempting to persuade Mauricio Pochettino to return to the club this summer, according to talkSPORT.

Sky Sports claimed late last month that Tottenham had held talks with the Paris Saint-Germain boss, with chairman Daniel Levy said to have acknowledged that he made a mistake in sacking the Argentine in November 2019.

Antonio Conte, Paulo Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso have all since been linked with the vacancy, but the club are still yet to confirm who exactly will be succeeding Jose Mourinho.

Football.London claimed earlier this week that Pochettino was keen on a return to North London, but was not prepared a kick up a fuss to force his exit from the French giants.

Pochettino is said to have not been keen to work under a director of football and when the club’s interest ended, they pushed on with the restructure by appointing Fabio Paratici as their managing director of football.

It seems highly unlikely that Tottenham would be able to prise Pochettino away from Paris, not only due to his contractual situation but also due to the fact that the arrival of Paratici has created a new layer between the head coach and Daniel Levy on the transfer front.
