Report: Some Real Madrid players are ‘relieved’ Gareth Bale has left

While Gareth Bale arrived back at Hotspur Way on Friday afternoon, a large group of Spurs fans gathered outside the club’s training complex to welcome their returning hero and chant his name.

That was quite a contrast to the way the Welshman has been treated by a section of the Real Madrid fans during the majority of his time in the Spanish capital, with the 31-year-old even criticising the Santiago Bernabeau faithful for booing their own players.

However, it is not just some of the Real Madrid fans that Bale seemingly had issues with, but also some of his former teammates.

According to a report from AS (as relayed by The Daily Mail), the winger did not say goodbye personally to all of his Real team-mates when he went to collect his belongings at the club’s training centre, prior to his return to Spurs.

The report alleges that Bale does not have much of a connection with many of his colleagues at Madrid and that some Los Blancos players are relieved that he has now left.

Spurs Web Opinion

Bale has always struck me as the kind of player who needs to feel loved by the fans and supported by the manager. He never really got neither at Madrid, particularly after Carlo Ancelotti left, which is perhaps why his performances suffered. Hopefully, a return to Spurs is exactly what he needs to get his career back on track.
