Report: Some senior Spurs players ‘are having doubts’ over Mourinho’s methods

According to a report in The Daily Mirror, some senior Tottenham Hotspur players are having doubts about Jose Mourinho’s tactical approach and man-management style as the team continues to struggle to turn around their poor form.

Mourinho has prided himself on his record of having won trophies at every club he has managed but Spurs’ chances of winning silverware this season was dented on Wednesday after suffering an extra time defeat at Everton in the FA Cup.

While Tottenham are in the knockout stages of the Europa League and have a Carabao Cup final to look forward to, their form for the last couple of months has been extremely poor.

The Daily Mirror claims some players have doubts over the effectiveness of Mourinho’s man-management, with many feeling that the row that the Spurs boss had with Serge Aurier during half-time of the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool could spell the end of the Ivorian at Spurs.

However, one source is said to have reportedly claimed that the Portuguese coach’s decision to quickly forgive the right-back was an indication of his desperation.

It is also suggested that there is too much focus on opposition tactics and the defensive side of the game and not enough on the team’s strengths.

However, it is said that the Tottenham hierarchy still has confidence in Mourinho and that the 58-year-old will be at the club until the end of the season, no matter what.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss’ stock with Daniel Levy reportedly remains high despite the team’s recent struggles.

Given the crazy nature of the current season, where we have seen how a couple of good or bad results can completely turn around a club’s predicament, it is way too early for people to suggest that Mourinho’s job is under threat. We could still finish in the top four and win a trophy this season which will make it a successful campaign and give us something to build on.
