Report: Some Spurs players and staff ‘unhappy’ with Levy’s treatment of ‘popular figure’

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that a number of players and staff are unhappy with the way in which Daniel Levy has treated Steve Hitchen, amidst Fabio Paratici’s impending arrival.

Although Tottenham have ended talks with Antonio Conte over their vacant manager role, Paratici has reportedly agreed to join as the club’s Director of Football.

Gold has now explained that Spurs are expected to make an official announcement confirming the 48-year-old’s appointment soon.

However, the journalist revealed that Levy went behind Hitchens’ back in his pursuit of Paratici, with Tottenham’s technical performance director only learning late in the process about the arrival of the former Juventus chief.

He explained that Hitchen drew up a shortlist of candidates to be the club’s next manager but Levy ignored the list after the club’s failed pursuit of Mauricio Pochettino.

Gold also added that Hitchen is a popular figure among the players and staff at Spurs, who are not happy with the way he has been treated by the Tottenham chairman.

However, Spurs reportedly want Hitchen to remain within the football structure and work with Paratici.
