Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed some of the Tottenham players fear that Antonio Conte could walk if he is not backed properly in the January transfer window.
Conte has been outspoken over the last few weeks about the gulf in quality between Tottenham’s squad and the best sides in the Premier League.
The Italian revealed earlier this week that he had a meeting with Fabio Partici and Daniel Levy to give his assessment of the squad and his opinion on what the club need moving forward.
According to The Telegraph, Tottenham are expected to target a right wing-back, a central midfielder and an attacker this month, with Conte prepared to wait until the summer to sign a central defender.
Gold has now revealed there is a feeling among some Tottenham players that the 52-year-old could leave the club, just a little over two months after arriving, if he does not get the players he wants.
However, the journalist goes on to explain that Conte’s meeting with Levy and Paratici was ‘positive’ and there is no fear among the Spurs hierarchy of the Italian’s immediate departure.
Gold adds that next summer is expected to be the real ‘crunch window’ where Conte will assess if the club is moving in the right direction.

Spurs fans should not be panicking about this report as it is likely that just one or two players in the dressing room might have expressed their concern about Conte walking.
The fact that Gold describes Conte’s meeting with the club’s hierarchy as ‘positive’ suggests that there is little chance of him walking away anytime soon.
I expect Conte to be handed a significant amount of money to spend in the summer as Levy knows that he is not very popular with the fan base and can ill afford to have the Italian walk out.
