Report: Some Tottenham players had influence on decision to reverse furlough plans

Tottenham’s reversal of their decision to use the government’s furlough scheme was due to pressure put on the club by some first-team stars, according to a report in Football Insider.

The Lilywhites announced today that they would no longer be cutting the wages of their non-playing staff and that they would be backtracking on their original plan to use the government Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.

Some Spurs fans were delighted that the club had finally U-turned on their decision while the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust (THST) hailed the club’s ‘maturity and humility’.

Football Insider has revealed that pressure from Tottenham’s first-team stars was one of the main reasons the North Londoners went back on their decision.

Several Spurs players were said to be unhappy at the club’s decision and reportedly made their displeasure known to Daniel Levy.
