Report: Source close to French stars reveals when Mourinho lost dressing room at Spurs

According to a report in French publication Telefoot (as relayed by GFFN), Jose Mourinho had lost the Tottenham dressing room several weeks prior to his sacking.

It was reported by The Telegraph after Spurs parted ways with Mourinho on Monday morning that Daniel Levy had only come to the decision following the team’s 2-2 draw at Goodison Park on Friday.

The Spurs chairman reportedly believed even until just two weeks ago that the Portuguese coach would be able to turn things around but eventually decided that a change was needed after performances failed to improve.

However, if Telefoot are to be believed, a significant portion of the squad had already made up their minds about Mourinho prior to Levy’s decision.

The report quotes a source close to the French clique players at Tottenham as saying that the former Spurs boss “lost the dressing room” weeks ago and had very tense relationships with several players.

One of the issues that Mourinho has had throughout his career is that he puts such intense pressure on himself and the players that relationships can quickly head on a downward spiral when the team is not able to get out of a jam. There is only so many times you can criticise the players and expect to shock them into a reaction before some starting turning on you.
