Report: Sources claim Spurs player could be out injured for five more weeks

Tottenham Hotspur may not be able to call upon Fraser Forster until mid-April, according to the latest update on the goalkeeper’s injury from sources at Football Insider.

Since joining Spurs in the summer of 2022, Fraser Forster has had to settle for being the backup option in goal, with Hugo Lloris the preferred choice for Antonio Conte for much of last season.

This year, Ange Postecoglou has arrived and new signing Guglielmo Vicario is the undisputed number one between the sticks for Spurs.

Nevertheless, Forster was recently praised for the way he trains and the positive attitude he brings to the dressing room at Spurs.

Sadly, the Lilywhites are without their second-choice goalkeeper right now, as Forster suffered a fractured foot last month. It has previously been suggested he will be out of action until late April (The Standard).

Fraser Forster injury update

According to the latest from Football Insider, that estimation is about right, and we cannot expect to see Forster back in the Spurs squad until mid-April.

It is thought the 35-year-old is “some way off a return” as things stand, with a further five weeks on the sideline for Forster. Spurs have not yet announced a firm date for Forster’s return, though.

In the meantime, it seems Brandon Austin has stepped up to be the new second-choice keeper for Postecoglou, with Alfie Whiteman bumped up to third-choice. As per Football.London, youngster Aaron Maguire has joined training as Tottenham’s fourth keeper recently.

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s a real shame for Forster, but in the nicest way possible, hopefully we don’t need him anyway. Vicario is the number one by a mile, and as long as he stays fit, there is no need for any other player to step in. Plus, Brandon Austin being next in line will do his development a world of good, too.
