Report: Sources say links between Spurs and winger could be wide of the mark

As Tottenham Hotspur look to bolster their attacking ranks, it has been suggested they may look at Barcelona’s Raphinha, though just how serious the interest from the North London club is has been called into question.

Ange Postecoglou will get another chance to reshape his squad into the image he wants in just over a month when the January transfer window opens across Europe.

The summer was a busy, and largely successful period of transition for the Lilywhites, with new signings like James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, and Guglielmo Vicario all proving to be perfect for the Postecoglou system.

With injuries to key players throughout the squad, however, it seems the Australian will need to add more talent in the upcoming transfer window.

Many suspect Postecoglou is keen to add a wide attacker to his lineup, due to the injuries to the likes of Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon. Among the many options on the shortlist, it has been suggested that Raphinha is of interest to Spurs (Football Transfers).

Are Spurs actually interested in Raphinha?

The Brazilian left England 18 months ago, switching Leeds for Barcelona, but has struggled this season for the Catalan giants. The latest from Football Insider suggests reports of Tottenham’s interest in the player may be off the mark, though.

It is said that the speculation linking Spurs with the attacker may have been pushed by Barcelona as they “attempt to drum up interest” in their asset. Apparently, despite all the rumours, Raphinha “does not feature on any shortlists” among Premier League clubs right now.

Spurs Web Opinion

I liked Raphinha when he was at Leeds and I do think he would work at Spurs, but I reckon Barca would drive a hard bargain to sell him. I know they need the money, but this is a player who is under contract for a while and Barcelona will not want to make a loss on him.
