Report: Sources suggest one manager has ‘good chance’ of landing Spurs job

It has been suggested that former Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers now has a ‘good chance’ of taking the vacant managerial role at Tottenham Hotspur.

Rodgers was relieved of his duties at Leicester last weekend, ending a four-year spell in charge of the Midlands side.

The Northern Irishman won the FA Cup and the Community Shield during his time with Leicester, but was sacked following a poor season this year which had left the Foxes in the relegation zone in the Premier League.

With Spurs looking for a new permanent manager after parting ways with Antonio Conte, the timing appeared to be perfect for the recently unemployed Rodgers to enter the running for the top job in North London.

Football Insider claimed Spurs chairman Daniel Levy would be keen to hire Rodgers, given the fact the Tottenham man had wanted to work with the manager 11 years ago.

Now, the latest from Football Insider suggests Rodgers is looking like the right fit for Spurs and claims there is a “good chance” the Lilywhites will move for him in the summer.

It is thought the “exhaustive managerial process” going on at Tottenham may lead to Rodgers landing the job. The report claims “contact is being made” with the 50-year-old regarding the position.

The fact that Rodgers is now unemployed and wouldn’t come with a release clause is believed to be desirable to Spurs, who have spent plenty on hiring and firing managers in recent years.

It is also thought that Rodgers has “mellowed” recently, and would prove to be an amiable appointment for the board.

Spurs Web Opinion

I’m really not keen on the idea of Brendan Rodgers taking over at Spurs.

He’s not a bad manager, but the fact he just got sacked by a club in the relegation zone just doesn’t fill me with confidence with regard to what he could do for us.
