Report: Southampton join race for rumoured Spurs target

Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, according to The Sun.

Southampton are set to provide competition for his signature and are prepared to pay to land him in January, rather than wait until his contract expires at The Hawthorns this summer.

Spurs are said to be ready to make an offer for the 28-year-old who won his third cap for England when he was named in Gareth Southgate’s starting eleven for the 5-0 win against Andorra should he become a free agent.

Current number one Hugo Lloris is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and recently admitted that the club are yet to enter talks over a new deal, while insisting that the situation is not a problem (Evening Standard).

Alasdair Gold reported last month that the North Londoners would offer Lloris a new contract if the goalkeeper maintains the consistency he is showing at the moment (Football.London).

Tottenham need to move and look to tie down Hugo Lloris to a new contract rather than focus on the likes of Johnstone.

The Frenchman has been in dazzling form in recent weeks and is proving that he still has many years ahead of him at the top.
