Report: Spanish club ‘convinced’ to make permanent move for Spurs defender

According to a report by Spanish publication, AS Villarreal are ‘willing to execute’ the purchase option in Juan Foyth’s loan deal from Tottenham at the end of the season.

Foyth had struggled for game time after Jose Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino at the helm last season.

The Argentine joined Villarreal on a season-long loan deal last summer, with the La Liga club having the option to make the deal permanent for £13m at the end of the campaign.

The defender has played 26 times for the Yellow Submarine in all competitions this season, having been used by Unai Emery in a variety of positions including centre-back, right-back and a holding midfield role.

Football Insider revealed last week that Villarreal will make a permanent move for the 23-year-old and that they believe they may be able to negotiate down the £13m fee down due to the financial impact of the pandemic.

AS claim that Foyth has ‘convinced’ Villareal to sign him permanently in the summer due to his impressive performances over recent weeks.
