Report: Spanish club in talks to sign 23-year-old Spurs star – Not Harry Winks

According to Football Insider, Villarreal are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over completing the permanent signing of Juan Foyth in the summer transfer window.

Foyth struggled for game time after Jose Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino at the helm last season.

The Argentine joined Villarreal on a season-long loan deal last summer, with the La Liga club having the option to make the deal permanent for £13m at the end of the season.

The defender has played 25 times for the Yellow Submarine in all competitions this season, being used by Unai Emery in a variety of positions including centre-back, right-back and midfield.

Football Insider now reveal that Villarreal want to sign Foyth permanently at the end of the season but for considerably less than £13m.

It is said that the Spanish club believe that they may be able to negotiate the fee down due to the financial crisis as a result of the pandemic.

Emery is said to be a fan of the Tottenham defender’s versatility and Foyth is said to be keen on making a permanent move to El Madrigal.

Foyth has not set the world alight at Villarreal and so Spurs would likely want to cash in on him this summer, particularly considering that the North Londoners reportedly have to sell players to raise funds for their targets.
