Report: Spanish club ready to pay £34m for Spurs star in the summer

According to a report from Spanish outlet El Gol Digital, Davinson Sanchez is Sevilla’s number one centre-back target in the summer.

Sanchez found himself struggling to get into Tottenham’s starting eleven earlier in the season. However, the Colombian has battled his way back and has been a regular in the side over recent weeks alongside Toby Alderweireld.

Despite playing a lot of football recently, reports indicate that Jose Mourinho does not trust the 24-year-old and is happy to move him on at the end of the season, with the Spurs boss wanting two new central defenders brought in.

If El Gol Digital are to be believed, Sanchez may well end up at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium in the summer. The report explains that Sevilla are expecting to lose Jules Kounde at the end of the season and have identified the Tottenham star as his ideal replacement.

It is said that the La Liga club believe Sanchez’s recovery pace and his ability to defend in one vs one situation would suit Julen Lopetegui’s expansive style of football.

It is asserted that Sevilla are willing to pay €40m (£34.2m) for the former Ajax man but are hoping to negotiate a lower fee since they know Spurs want to move the defender on.

Spurs Web Opinion

Sanchez clearly has some very good attributes but he has simply not developed as a player since arriving from Ajax four years ago and still remains a raw talent. I believe Spurs would accept a fee of around £35m for the Colombian as there are potentially better options out there who we can get for that price like Lille’s Sven Botman.
