Report: Spanish club will press to sign Spurs man on loan after completing sale

Sevilla will push to sign Sergio Reguilon on loan from Tottenham after they have completed the sale of Jules Kounde, according to journalist Giacomo Iacobellis.

The imminent exit of Kounde will allow the LaLiga side to push ahead with their transfer business, which includes left-back Reguilon and Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto.

Sevilla emerged with interest in signing the Spanish left-back (ABC de Sevilla) in a bid to bring him back to the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan after a successful loan campaign in 2019-20.

However, the same report indicated Julen Lopetegui’s side have had issues completing a deal, with the 26-year-old’s wages proving to be a stumbling block for the club.

Spurs pushed ahead to sign Reguilon in 2020 after his impressive stint with Sevilla, although he has struggled to fully make his mark in English football.

Plagued with various injury problems in both of his two seasons in North London, the Spain international’s place in Antonio Conte’s squad has come under further threat following the arrival of Ivan Perisic.

Reguilon was also one of four players to be left out of the Italian coach’s pre-season squad for the tour of South Korea.

Sevilla’s sale of Kounde looks to set off a domino effect in that it holds the key to allowing them to conduct their transfer business.

It seems like his exit is close so that will let them make their move for one of their main targets in Reguilon, which would be a good move for all involved.
