Report: Spanish giants said to have entered the race for Spurs star

According to a report by Sky Sports, Barcelona have now made an enquiry about signing Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen before the end of the window.

The Danish international has been linked heavily with a move to Inter Milan this month and Sky in Italy reported earlier this week that Eriksen had met with Daniel Levy to reiterate his intention to join the Italian club.

It was claimed that Inter and Spurs were still some way off from reaching an agreement as the Nerazzurri were said to have offered £11m plus bonuses for the midfielder while the Lilywhites were said to be holding out for £17m.

It was suggested that Inter were still confident of agreeing on a deal before the close of the month but with Barca now entering the race for the Spurs star, the transfer deal might have got more complicated.

However, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has insisted that there is no concrete interest from Barcelona and that the former Ajax man will joining Inter in the coming days.

It is possible that Barca could have entered the race for Eriksen given the fact that they’ve made a managerial change. However, what is much more likely is that Spurs are trying to get Inter to increase their offer by putting pressure on them. I doubt the likes of Barca would be interested in him given how poor the 27-year-old has been for the last year or so.
