Report: Spanish paper claims Spurs are ‘more and more likely’ to sign player

Tottenham Hotspur appear to be edging closer to a deal to sign Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid.

Respected Spanish news outlet AS claim that Mauricio Pochettino has already held discussions with the midfielder and has assured him that he would play a pivotal role in his side as part of the next phase of their project to compete for trophies next season.

Ceballos recently stated his desire to ‘play 40 games a season’ (Marca), something which he would find difficult to achieve at the Spanish giants.

The 22-year-old impressed during the Spanish Under-21’s successful European Championship campaign with Spurs looking ‘more and more likely’ as his destination for the upcoming season.

It is unknown as of yet whether Madrid would allow the highly-rated attacking midfielder to leave the club on a permanent deal or whether it would be a loan arrangement with the option to buy.

The talented midfielder has started just 28 matches across two full seasons in the Spanish capital and has been largely a fringe figure under the returning manager Zinedine Zidane.
