Report: Spanish side in talks with Spurs over deal for Argentina international

Villarreal are reported to be ready to hold discussions with Tottenham Hotspur over a permanent deal for Juan Foyth.

Spanish news outlet La Razon claim that the Yellow Submarine have been impressed with the performances of the Argentine this summer following his season long loan switch at the beginning of the campaign.

Foyth penned a new contract with the North Londoners until 2023 before making his switch to the La Liga outfit (Spurs official).

He has shown his versatility, playing for Unai Emery’s side at right-back, centre-back or in a defensive midfield role over the course of the season.

Spanish newspaper AS have previously reported that the loan agreement contained an option to make the switch permanent for a €15m (£13m) fee.

Villarreal have began negotiating with Daniel Levy to try and lower the transfer fee in order to take the 23-year-old off his hands.

Foyth has made 30 appearances in all competitions for Villarreal this season, scoring one goal and providing two assists (transfermarkt).
