Report: Spanish side keen on out-of-favour Spurs defender

Villarreal are reportedly targeting Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth ahead of the new season, according to Monday’s print edition of AS.

The Sun claimed last week that Foyth is on Jose Mourinho’s hit list to leave the club during the current transfer window in order to generate funds for new targets with Premier League Leeds United said to be keen on the Argentine.

ESPN reported last month that Foyth wants to stay in North London and battle for his place despite not featuring the club since December.

AS suggest that despite Mourinho being prepared to allow Foyth to leave on a permanent basis, Tottenham would be willing to let him leave this summer but only on loan while Villarreal, who are managed by former Arsenal boss Unai Emery want the 22-year-old to head to Spain permanently.

Foyth’s agent Claudio Curti admitted in May that he does not appear to have a long-term future at the club (talkSPORT).
