Tottenham Hotspur may soon be forced to replace their long-term playmaker, Christian Eriksen, as the Great Dane’s contract comes to an end in the summer.
Talk of a new deal does not appear to be in the pipeline, with Eriksen allowed to talk to non-English outfits in January about a potential pre-contract agreement.
Spurs would then lose one of their senior creative players for absolutely no money at all, unless they can agree to sell him in January.
In terms of a replacement for the midfielder, Bruno Fernandes has been linked as a long-term target for the Lilywhites, as they made an approach for him in the summer (Sport Witness).
A Bola have now reported that Sporting Lisbon, Fernandes’ current club, have made an approach for Palmeiras midfielder, Gustavo Scarpa, a man who is seen as a possible replacement for the Tottenham target.
Sporting are apparently preparing for an offer they can’t refuse for Fernandes. While no club is named as a destination for him, Spurs are named in the report due to their earlier efforts to land the player.
