Report: Sporting Lisbon identify Pedro Porro replacement in case he joins Spurs

Amidst Tottenham’s continued interest in Pedro Porro, it has now emerged that Sporting Lisbon have identified a replacement for the Spaniard.

Fabrizio Romano revealed on Monday that Tottenham have not yet given up on their pursuit of Porro and stated that the North London club are set to hold fresh talks over a deal for the right-back this week.

90 min also provided a positive update yesterday, stating that Spurs had agreed to pay £40m for the 23-year-old but in several instalments rather than one lump sum. The report stated that some among the Sporting hierarchy are satisfied with the proposal while others still continue to oppose it.

It has now emerged that the Portuguese club are making contingency plans in the event they lose Porro, with Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu taking to social media to reveal that Ruben Amorim’s side are considering a move for Galatasaray right-back Sacha Boey.

O Jogo have relayed Sabuncuoglu’s report and suggested that Sporting will make a move for the 22-year-old Frenchman if Porro joins Spurs.

The fact that Sporting have identified potential replacements for Porro might not necessarily mean that the Portuguese club are expected to relax their demands. They might just be making contingency plans if the Spurs do indeed activate the 23-year-old’s release clause.
