Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate, Nabil Bentaleb, could be set to return to the Premier League for the first time since leaving Spurs back in 2016.
Bentaleb came through the academy system and broke into the first team in the 2013/14 season, striking up a great partnership with Ryan Mason in the Spurs midfield.
In just three seasons, he played 66 games and scored one goal from a holding position, before going out on loan to Schalke for the 2016/17 campaign (Wikipedia).
Schalke then decided to buy the midfield man permanently and Bentaleb has been there ever since, playing 97 games and scoring an impressive 19 goals.
However, he has yet to feature in the 2019/20 season and could now be set for a Premier League return as reports claim he is in Newcastle for a medical (Daily Mail).
It is said that Bentaleb is available on loan with an option to buy, with interest from Crystal Palace as well as the Magpies. Steve Bruce is said to be hopeful of adding him to the squad for their trip to Everton.
Spurs Web Opinion:
I still believe that Bentaleb could have gone on to be a great player if he had remained at Spurs and sorted out his attitude problems. I will be good to see him back in the Premier League though.
