Report: Spurs academy graduate to consider January exit unless he gets more minutes

The Telegraph report that Harry Winks could be open to a move away from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window if he continues to struggle for minutes.

Based on the pre-season fixtures and the first few games of the campaign, it appeared as if the Winks-Hojbjerg partnership was likely to Jose Mourinho’s first-choice pairing in the middle of the park.

However, Moussa Sissoko has forced himself into the starting line-up in recent weeks and with Giovani Lo Celso now back fully fit, Winks has a big fight on his hands to earn a starting birth.

The midfielder was not part of Tottenham’s matchday squads for the victories over West Bromwich Albion and Burnley, while he was an unused substitute against Brighton.

The 24-year-old has started all three of Spurs’ Europa League group stage games so far but The Telegraph suggest that he is not pleased with his current predicament.

The report claims that the England international will reassess his circumstances when the January transfer window opens. Should he still be on the fringes of the squad, it is said that he could ask to leave the club.
