Report: Spurs accept bid from Premier League club for defender – Could be done today

Tottenham defender Kyle Walker-Peters is set to move to Southampton on loan for the remainder of the season, according to reports in the British press.

Football Insider claims that Tottenham have accepted a loan bid from the Saints for the 22-year-old defender and that Walker-Peters has agreed to a move to the South Coast.

The report asserts that Southampton beat out competition from Crystal Palace to land the defender. It is revealed that Tottenham have given the green light for Walker-Peters to join Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side after the two clubs agreed on the terms of a loan deal.

It is suggested that Spurs and Southampton failed to come to an agreement on the transfer fee and so the deal is not expected to include an option to buy.

A report from Sky Sports also reports that Southampton are confident are completing the deal as early as today.

Spurs Web Opinion

I feel the deal suits all parties as Walker-Peters doesn’t look like he has Jose Mourinho’s trust. At 22 years of age, he needs to get more time under his belt and I believe a move to Southampton would suit him perfectly given that they like to play on the front foot.
