Report: Spurs admire player with 21 assists this season but Chelsea in advanced talks

Tottenham Hotspur know all about Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech after coming up against him twice last season in the Champions League semi-final.

The Morrocco international scored against the Lilywhites and ran the defence ragged across both legs, but could they soon face him far more regularly?

It has been reported by the Telegraph that Tottenham are still admirers of the winger, although their realistic interest may now have faded since buying Steven Bergwijn.

However, it is Chelsea who look to be stealing a march on their rivals this season for Ziyech’s signature, as they are apparently now in advanced talks over a deal (Sky Sports).

Ziyech already has 21 assists and eight goals across all competitions for Ajax this season in just 29 games. This follows on from his incredible 21 goals and 24 assists in 49 matches last season (TransferMarkt).

The winger, who is now 26, would apparently only cost Chelsea £38m and a deal could be agreed in just a matter of days (Sky Sports).

Spurs Web Opinion:

At that price, I would be gutted for Spurs not to compete for Ziyech. I just do not see a future in which he is not one of the top players in the Premier League. Imagine a three of Son, Bergwijn, and Ziyech behind Harry Kane! £38m is a bargain and Spurs can’t just let Chelsea have him.
