Report: Spurs agree deal with Serie A club for midfielder

Viola News have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Fiorentina to sign Sofyan Amrabat on an initial loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Amrabat has struggled for game time at Fiorentina under Vincenzo Italiano this season, with the majority of his eleven Serie A appearances coming from the bench (Transfermarkt).

Sky Sport Italia revealed yesterday that Spurs had identified the 25-year-old as a potential replacement for Tanguy Ndombele, should the Frenchman leave the club.

If Viola News’ latest update is to be believed, the deal seems to have progressed quite quickly over the last 24 hours.

The publication claims that Fiorentina have agreed to loan Amrabat to Spurs until the end of the season, with the north London club having the option to sign the midfielder permanently for €15m (£12.5m) in the summer.

The report adds that Tottenham are now only waiting for the green light from the player, who is currently with the Morocco squad at the African Cup of Nations.

Viola News further suggests that both Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici are ‘great admirers’ of Amarabat.

Spurs Web Opinion

This seemingly impending move seems to be quite unpopular among Spurs fans on social media, which is understandable given Amarabat’s struggles at Fiorentina this season.

However, if Conte feels the Moroccan would be a good fit for his system, then I am happy for us to sign him.

Besides, the 25-year-old could simply be a temporary stop-gap until we move for our main target in the summer.
