Report: Spurs ‘ahead of everyone’ in race to sign 30-year-old Serie A star

According to Mondo Calcio, Tottenham Hotspur are at the front of the queue to snap up Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic in the January transfer window.

Brzovic has been a key fixture in Inter’s midfield for the best part of the last decade, including during Antonio Conte’s successful two-year stint at the San Siro.

CMW.it claimed last month that Conte wants to reunite with the Croat at Spurs and the North London club were considering an offer for the player in January.

The report added that the Nerazzurri would demand a fee of around €60m (£52m) for the midfielder, which could prove too much for the Lilywhites.

Mondo Calcio have now suggested that Inter are at risk of losing Brozovic in January as he is sought after by many clubs in Europe. It is explained that Simone Inzaghi’s men are bracing themselves for offers for the experienced star and would be willing to sell if they receive a substantial bid.

The report adds that Tottenham are ‘ahead of everyone’ in the race for Brozovic and could launch an ‘onslaught’ to sign the former Dinamo Zagreb man.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be extremely surprised if Spurs spent big money on a central midfielder in January, given that Conte has four very good options at his disposal in the form of Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Skipp and Bissouma. Positions like right wing-back and centre-back are undoubtedly bigger priorities.
