Report: Spurs aiming to seal move for defender today amid fears of Chelsea hijack

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to wrap up a deal for Sporting CP defender Pedro Porro today amid concerns that Chelsea could look to hijack the transfer, according to the Daily Mail.

The north Londoners have resumed talks with the Portuguese giants in the hope of reaching an agreement for the Spanish international as they look to improve their options at right wing-back.

Chelsea are no strangers to hijacking transfers, having moved quickly to seal an £87million move for Mykhaylo Mudryk from under the noses of Arsenal who had been in lengthy talks with Shakhtar Donetsk (Mirror).

Porro’s agent for the time being is prioritising talks with Tottenham to see whether both clubs can agree a fee for the 23-year-old, before turning his attentions to other clubs who are keen on the defender.

Sporting have been demanding that Porro’s £40million transfer release clause is met, however, the report claims that they may be prepared to reach a compromise if Spurs offer £30million plus bonuses.

Yesterday, Tottenham hijacked Everton’s move for Arnaut Danjuma and could fall, victim of the same tactics, today if they are prepared to walk away from the negotiating table without a firm agreement for Porro in place.

Chelsea have shown since Todd Boehly took over they are prepared to be ruthless in the transfer market when it comes to signing new players.
