Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are keen on landing a big-name striker next summer and have already started working on that pursuit.
Richarlison has stepped up massively over the last couple of months and has demonstrated that he has the quality to lead the line for Ange Postecoglou’s side, having scored nine goals in his last nine Premier League outings.
Son Heung-min has also shown this season that he is more than capable of operating as a number nine while new signing Timo Werner is no stranger to that position either.

Tottenham want to sign a Harry Kane replacement this year
However, Football Insider say that despite having these options, the Lilywhites wish to sign a ‘marquee number nine’ to fill Harry Kane’s shoes when the transfer window opens in the summer.
The report claims that Postecoglou’s men have now ‘stepped up their plans’ to sign a top-quality centre-forward, with the club said to be on the lookout for an ‘A-list’ striker.
The publication adds that one of the names on Tottenham’s radar is Ivan Toney, with the club prepared to battle other Premier League heavyweights for the Brentford star’s signature.

Richarlison undoubtedly needs some competition for his place in the side. Tottenham’s squad now looks quite complete, with two decent options for each position, which is why I can see why Postecoglou might feel that centre-forward is the one area where the side can do with a big upgrade.
