Report: Spurs already trying to offload players ahead of Conte decision

The Evening Standard have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are already trying to offload a few members of their squad even before sealing Antonio Conte’s appointment.

Conte is reportedly close to reaching an agreement to be the next Tottenham boss but some reports suggest that the Italian is only expected to make a final decision before Monday.

The Evening Standard have now reported that the delay could be down to Conte mulling over Spurs’ proposal and that the North London club are not anticipating the situation to conclude until next week.

However, this is not said to have stopped Tottenham from trying to get started with their summer transfer business, with the club trying to ‘offload a number of unwanted players’.

In doing so, it is explained that Daniel Levy hopes to raise additional funds which can go towards strengthening the team as Conte and the club would see fit.

However, it is asserted that the Tottenham chairman is unlikely to agree to Harry Kane’s sale despite the kind of money the striker could potentially bring in this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

While I would expect Spurs to be looking for buyers for the likes of Davinson Sanchez, I would be surprised the same was the case with the likes of Dele Alli and Steven Bergwijn. If Conte is close to joining, the club would likely want the Italian to make his own assessment of the squad before moving players on.
