Report: Spurs already working on deal to try and sign experienced Man Utd star

Fichajes have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are working on a shock move to sign Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea this summer.

De Gea is now into his eleventh season at Old Trafford but his current contract at the club is set to run out in the summer.

It is explained that Man Utd have the option to extend his deal by another 12 months but the club have not moved to do so yet.

Fichajes state that there is now a realistic chance of the Spaniard exiting United this summer as the Red Devils are on the lookout for goalkeeping alternatives.

The report states that should De Gea become available, Spurs could move to sign him in the summer, with the North London club thought to have identified the 32-year-old as a potential replacement for Hugo Lloris.

It is alleged that the Lilywhites have already started ‘working on’ a deal to sign the Spain international this summer.

The report adds that Tottenham could face competition for De Gea from Bayern Munich, who are also said to hold an interest in the Man Utd star.

De Gea, like Lloris, has evidently been on the decline over the last 12 months and it would not make any sense for Spurs to pursue the Spaniard as a replacement for the Frenchman.

Perhaps, Tottenham are considering signing the 32-year-old as a potential back up but the Man Utd man will probably want to play regular first-team football.
